Short action caliber on long action?

Ok here is the deal. I have a Savage 110 Long Action that I am about to purchase a barrel for. I was thinking about a .243AI but then started thinking about whether or not the accuracy would be better on a short action.

Would I be better off building something that requires a long action for this build and then purchasing a short action to build a .243 AI or other SA cartridge?

or maybe I shouldn't worry about the action length. What say you?

Regards,

Dave

I prefer the long actions. All the bolt parts and stocks interchange.

They work very well on short action rounds.

I have a couple WSM's on long actions and my wife shoots a 308 on a long action.

I am building a 260 rem on a savage long action now it feeds fine and allows for seating longer bullets without jaming them into the case.
