Not sure where to put this so I guess here is as good as any. I'm planning a vacation trip at the end of August to Yellowstone. Hoping for some insight of suggestions of things to go see or experience. I'm obviously into long range shooting and hunting so anything related to that. Starting in Bozeman, then Cody, then Jackson Hole, then Grand Teton, Big Sky, then Glacier. I see the National Rifle museum is in Cody so probably hit that as well as the Elk Antler Arch in Jackson hole. Thought this might be a good group to ask for other suggestions of things to go see or do out there. Thanks in advance!

Have a pocket full of money if you're going to spend anytime in Jackson.

Might as well do a tour of the Gunwerks facility too. Years ago I did it on a couple of different trips. Great and friendly folks.

You can also take horseback trips either a day, overnight or multiple days into the mountains. The best way to experience the western wilderness in my opinion.

While in Cody as mentioned the museum can be a whole days adventure and well worth it. Oh, and make sure you go by the Irma hotel…cool old place.

Enjoy and take in as much as you can.

August will be prime time hopper fishing time if you're into fly fishing! I live in Boze, it'll be a busy time of year for sure. Imagine you have your room reservations all sorted out, if not you better to hop to it!

Most likely you'll be going from Big Sky (hit the Tram up Lone Mtn), on down to West Yellowstone. In west you should hit the Grizzly Discovery Center, they also have wolves, rapture's and otters.

While in Jackson try to get up to the Mangy Moose for dinner, it's in the village.

If you have time to drive from Cody , Wyoming to Cooke City , Montana - Northeast Gate to Yellowstone N.P. , do so .
I don't remember the Highway number , but that route is Spectacularly Beautiful .

Allow several days inside Yellowstone N.P. , just to visit the major attractions , and expect very slow-moving traffic on Park roads .

Are u flying in or driving, if driving where are u coming from

I agree on Beartooth Highway the picture is standing around the highest point. We started early and drove in through Gardner saw most of the wildlife in Lamar Valley. We were there at the start of the Bison rut and saw a dead one that had a few Wolves eating on the carcass. Wasn't impressed with Jackson Hole had a drink at the million dollar bar or whatever it's called and saw the Arch and left. We were at Glacier and Yellowstone for 2 weeks and drove like 4000 miles and saw a lot.

Spend some time in Hayden valley. You'll see lots of bison and elk. I watched a pack of wolves have a stand off with some bulls last time I was in there. I found a couple great trails in the Tetons that got you way up in there and got on some moose and bears. I want to say the trail I did was 18 miles round trip that got up in there that I really enjoyed.

The Hayden is nice, I tend to lean towards the Lamar but both are nice!

You could fly into Boze, head east to Columbus then go south to Roscoe for lunch or dinner at the Grizzly bar then onto Red Lodge and up over the top via the Beartooth Highway and on to Cooke City.

You could get on line for Old Faithful and see when it's to blow and make a plan to get there on time. Ice Cream shop across the street is a good stop on the way to go watch Old Faithful.
