Mainly looking for the CZ Scout, but open to other suggestions. BOLT ACTIONS ONLY! Gonna be for my daughter for her BDay.

Get her something that will be a lifetime gun. You'll thank me later. Anschutz 1416 HB or a Anschutz 54 if you can find one. The best .22's in the world. Feed them with Eley or SK Match and you'll never have a bad day.

I've owned just about every .22lr bolt gun offered. I have only ever been really happy with Anshutz and Sako. Sako lock time is silly fast, makes it easier to learn to shoot well.

I'm with ya on the CZ. Both my boys learned to shoot with one. As far as I'm concerned it is one of the better 22's made especially the smaller ones designed for smaller shooters. I own several of them in full size in different calibers and all are exceptional shooters. I've been looking at center fire CZ as I hear they are the same way. Good luck finding one for your daughter, mine are definitely not for sale.

Have you considered the Ruger 77/22 rimfire?
I think it's a better product. Just my two cents.

+1 on the Ruger

I've never held the CZ, but that Ruger is a VERY NICE .22!

When my kids were little, I looked at them but ended up with a stainless/laminate Savage 17HMR instead. It's still my favorite rifle. One of many favorites, actually...

A lot of good choices out there. I've had good experience with the Marlin youth, and the Savage FV-SR.

I just cut the stock down on one (Savage) for a 4 year old, put a reflex sight on it for ease of use. He's breaking balloons at 75 yards with a little support (tripod). and some coaching.

How old is she?

Especially the girls take her with you, and get get input.

Thanks for all the input, she is turning 6 in May.
She shot my 10/22 Sat and did well for her first time, but I really want her to learn with a bolt gun.

Son has a Marlin. Has an adapter to use as a single shot and also a magazine if desired. It is proportioned well and trigger is decent. It has bounced around the back seat of a Jeep wrangler getting dusty etc. and no issues. Accuracy is better than expected. A head shot on a gopher gets my kid a beef jerky when we are out on our route and usually I have to pay up. He started on this gun with a scope when he was 5 and is now coming up on 8 and it still is doing the job. Also had a Cricket and it hasn't been used as much. Just my $.02
