I dont want to step on anybodys cheerie-os, but I had a new new new .223
savage with the new choate stock. ok, I bought it new. varmint rifle, right?
.223 is a varmint everywhere except wyoming. boy, was I in for a surprize.
not only to shoot varmints, but to live there also.
the deal was to change it to 22-250.
barrel was 1:9 already(new).
change the .223 to .22-250 bolt face. I did, but the firing pin wouldnt show up.
I had to drill it. Im thinking the bigger of the two, I drilled it. firing pin, ok, now.
now for the barrel. I had to ream it out to 22-250. ok, now.
put the bolt with the go, no-go gages on, slid it in the reciever, put the barrel on , and tightened it down.
up shot- shot about 100 prairie dogs, 1 coyote, 1 porkypine, 8 skunks.
aint shot it since 2002. still got it.
