I had a friend that Just sold one of these in 30-06, took him a year to sell it and dropped from $800 to $550 to get it sold. I thought it was unreal and gun market must have been gone through a really slow time....

If your friend had a Sako Deluxe that he sold for $550 then the condition must of been really bad. Or he wasn't selling it at the right place.
I'm betting that it wasn't a Deluxe, and the condition was poor.

His sako was in really nice shape but locally there was little interest.I almost bought it just to buy it...lol

Here's my Sako Deluxe 270. Thought I would try posting photos in case they did not arrive via email.

You can't hardly give Sakos away in georgia. I've seen some very nice rifles sit for a long time and finally get the bottom dropped out. There was one local that sold for $650. It was not a deluxe but was in perfect condition. He said he'll take offer on the deluxe 300 WM.

Go to 24hourcampfire right now. There is a L691 that is PURE Beauty! IMO better than the deluxe. It's listing says (2) Sakos (1) remington (1) tikka. It's worth a look anyhow. It's a 270 as well!!!

I agree with your prices if it's Sako's like that, or that style. That's not the ones that I'm thinking about.

Your not going to find a nice old Sako L61R Deluxe 270 for $700.00, but more like $1200 and up.

The new Deluxe sells from around $2100 to $2500.

I collect the pre 72 models. Like the ones in my photo. These Deluxe's are worth $1200 to $3500. The Sporter in the photo is a .223. It's worth around $1700. The early .223's are rare.

If you come across any Sako's like these for $800, let me know.

I love Sako rifles as well. In a normal situation, I agree that these rifles will bring $1000+. Pm me your and I'll send you a link to a deluxe right now for $750 ask price. It's in beautiful condition. He just sold an AV in 30-06 for $700. I have a gentleman here in Georgia right now that has an AV deluxe with a leupold vari x III for 1000 in perfect shape. I just purchased an AIII classic from him for $800. It was in PERFECT condition. What I'm saying is these rifles(no matter how fine they are) are only worth what someone will give you for it. Some people don't know what they have and some people don't care what they have. My just need to dump a rifle quick.
