Wolf tracks?

It's an older track, would be better if you had pics of the tracks around it. Front Paw in the mud with the toes spread out. The Paw looks a lot bigger due to the consistency of the soil. But that's a BIG ONE! Wolfs and Yotes have bigger front paws than back. This is so they can dig.
Take a look at a track in the snow. looks a lot bigger due to the snow melting.

Hate to see that, but yup.
Notice they are pointy at the tips? You can see where the claws dug into the dirt.
Big cats have retractable claws, so no claw maeks, just pads. Cat tracks have a much 'rounder' look to them overall.
p.s. I love the electrical tape stored on the barrel. It's a good trick!

It's masking tape, because the pressure wave tears it like paper before the bullet makes contact. Supposedly, electrical tape stretches and can have an unsatisfactory effect on bullet flight. I have not tested this myself but know a couple guys that have and just took them at their word. And it's cheaper to boot!
There's also a monster lion in the area that makes that wolf track look small. My dad's buddy is a life long lion hunter and calls it a supercat when the tracks get that big. He said to be careful calling bears in that area cuz there's nothing on that mountain the lion is not king of and he'll be coming in fast and loud.

Interesting - seems reasonable to me. Might have to test the theory for myself. If there is an effect it should be easy to see at 300+ I'd think?
Then there is the issue of actually taping the muzzle. I had a sketchy situation a few years back, my dogs were on *something* and in pursuit I slipped and got a muzzle full of snow. Tape on barrel, yes, tape on muzzle no... so there I was trying to clear an obstruction with a stick, in the dark with dogs going crazy. Turned out it was just a small coyote but boy did I feel dumb.
About as dumb as the time I brought a gun inside with tape on the muzzle. Forgot to take the tape off and condensation formed inside the barrel. Being sealed with tape there qas no ventilation and ended up rusting the bore
that gun didn't shoot great to begin with, but the barrel was unusable after that!I believe it. We saw one at my Uncles's, through the kitchen window at breakfast - looked every bit of 200lbs. I was there building a garage for him. Garage was maybe 200yd from the house, but no line of sight, just gravel driveways through the forest. Couple times walking back from the site alone in the dark I had my hairs on end, that's for sure.

35 caliber 140gr Stone Hammer at 3180' should be capable of killing anything that walks in the PNW inside 300 yards.
