My parameters are:
-close focus parallax
-thin reticle for precise aiming but at the same time easy to see.

I'd like to keep the price around $500. Here are a few I'm eyeballing......let me know of others I should consider. Thanks!

1. Arken EPL4 4-16x44 FFP MOA VHR reticle $300
Parallax-10yds Weight 23.70

2. Sightron S-Tac 3-16x42 SFP MOA-2 reticle $400
Parallax-10yds Weight 23.3

3. Sightron S-Tac 4-20x50 SFP MOA-2 Reticle $400
Parallax-10yds Weight 23.6

4. Element Helix HDLR 2-16x50 SFP APR-1C Reticle $580
Parallax-10yds Weight 27.16

5. Hawke Vantage 4-16x50 AO $280
Parallax-15yds Weight21.87

6. Burris Signature HD 3-15x44 Plex reticle $430 (Demo)
Parallax-25yds Weight 20.0

My wife and I run these scopes on our .22 rifles and we love them!

No suggestion on a scope but in my experience: Parallax SEEMS to be of paramount importance on the .17 moreso than many other calibers. Just a thought. I DO know the little .17 is a hoot to shoot!

I have the Arken you mentioned and I love it! It's not the lightest scope, but for the price and with the features it has I'm not sure you can beat it.

If you are just target shooting, you may want to consider the Arken EP5 5-25X56 FFP VPR. They are heavy but a nice scope in the $500 range. I have a SH4 gen2 4-16X50 on my Savage 22FV and like it. I just picked up a EPL4 to try on a hunting rifle, no time behind it yet other than looking through it in the backyard. I like it so far. The EP5 is on a savage model 12 6.5cm bench rifle. That rig is HEAVY. They EP5 is my favorite. It may just be me but the 6-24 are a little harder to get behind quickly. Arken is running a 25% off promotion right now. Have fun with that Savage!
