I have a Remington 700 VTR 308, and I'm going to mount a zeiss conquest 6.5-20x50 and was wondering what the best 20moa base a rings would be if anyone has any ideas?
Thanks

Hey Josh,
Welcome to LRH!

I have a Rem 700 Sendero SF, .25-06 which atop that sits a Leupold Vari-X III 6.5-20x40 AO. I used Leupold STD Rem 700 RH-LA Long Range base and Burris Signature STD 1" medium rings with inserts. I also purchased the Burris insert kit to get the +/- .020" inserts.

If you choose to go this route, Midway part numbers are 364019 for the Leupold STD Rem 700 short action Long range base ($27.49) and 714534 for the Burris 1" Signature STD Medium rings or 475644 for the High rings ($34.99). The medium rings provide .270" of height and the high rings .390", as measured from the base of the ring to the bottom of the scope tube. My scope has a 40mm objective lens, hence the medium rings. Also, the insert kit from Burris is P/N: 712472 ($16.49). Cost, less tax & shipping; $78.97

This base has 1/4 degree of elevation built in. 1/4 degree is 1.3 feet (15") at 100yds. That's 15 MOA and the .020" inserts add another 20 MOA. I think this is as cheap as you can add 35 MOA (rings AND bases) to your rifle and not have to worry about lapping your rings.

I have this set up on my Savage 12, 6.5-284 Norma and Win 70 SA HVB, .243Win. Strong, dependable, easy installation with no issues. Hope this helps and again, Welcome. JohnnyK.
