I'd love to go on a hog hunt, but $$ and time are always a concern. I've found a few places online that wouldn't be bad, but there's not much of a guarantee. I'd hate to drive 18-24 hours and pay several hundred dollars just to walk around in the dark. Other places I've found want anywhere from $2-600 per hog. I see online where guys can get into several groups of 10-30 hogs per night. Where can I find something like this ?

Check out Dry Creek Outfitters. I saw them mentioned on another board. I've had zero personal interaction with them, so I cannot relay any personal observations.

And yet people complain about the hog "problem" and how they are tearing up the farm. But will gladly charge you $500. Are you serious??

Where are you located? I might be able to find somewhere where you can hunt hogs for free. I'll ask some of my family members. I'm located in Macon, Georgia.

Also, there's a guy who does hog hunts on the east side of NC. He charges $150 for a fully guided hunt. We didn't see anything but the other party with us shot a monster 500lb boar.

I'm military so I'm not sure if he gave me a discount. It was an eventful day though. We saw deer, ducks, coyotes, and raccoons. No hogs on our trip though.

Hey whisper. That's exactly what has been keeping me from going. The hog "problem" but then charge an arm, leg, and first born child. I'm located at the southern tip of Lake Michigan, in Indiana. I'd like to try do a 1 or 2 night hunt that I could roll into a family vacation. Let the wife and kids go do their thing while I shoot some pigs. Or the other option would be taking my dad (69 yrs old) with and letting him shoot some pigs. He's always talked about it, but once again doesn't want to pay the money for helping with the "hog problem".. I've heard god things about hogs in Georgia and it's not near as far as some other places west.. Let me know what you've got, maybe I could put you up in a deer stand in northern Indiana!

Well, I was going to say come to North Texas and hunt them for free, you provide what you need. But from far Indiana, that's a real trip.

I've looked into a few places and the ones whisper mentioned also. Is there any "best" time of year to hunt/shoot them? I'm personally not a fan of hot weather, or temps over 70-75 especially for hunting. Are they active all year round where a fall/winter hunt would be doable? I've only hunted coyotes, deer and other small critters in Indiana so excuse my ignorance.

The summer is the easiest to hunt them bc they don't have sweat glands and require a lot of water / wallowing to stay cool. So you just go to the nearest water source, and they are usually there. In the south, hunting that way, gets you within 30 yards or so. During the winter time, you hunt them just like deer. I have hunted from box blinds and have shot from 50 to about 150 yards. They come out quick though. It's dead quiet and then boom, 50 hogs in front of you. I've killed hogs by stalking during the summer, and by blind hunting during the winter. Fun either way. Also, I'm waiting on my uncle to get back to me about a place to go in GA. If not, I'll ask my buddy who's about 30 mins from Macon where I am from.

I think your expectations are way over the top. What some of us have experienced and written about on the site are those once in a lifetime hunts. Asking a guide to put you on 30 hogs is quite the challenge. A couple of things I can tell you to ask about. When doing your research is to ask about food and fresh places to hunt. While corn feeders work. Fields planted in red cane and other hog delicacies bring in the large numbers you are looking for. Hogs are very intelligent. They will move on when heavily hunted and not return for weeks.

Check out Shady Grove Outfitters, hog hunts are $250 a day include meals and lodging. Great success rates.

Your first post is promoting your company. I got it America is a capitalist society, but come on man, you're just using the forum for yourself instead Of helping others. Please don't be one the guys here who complains about the "hog problem" but then charges people to shoot them. Also, you have to be an official sponsor of the forum to promote your company.

To the OP. I'm sorry I couldn't deliver. My uncle doesn't have anywhere at the moment to hog hunt. I'm too far north in GA for any hogs. They are all south of Macon.
