Has anyone used Vectan Tubal 5000 powder in 45-70 Government? I'm looking to use it for my Marlin 1895 CB with 405 gr. lead bullets.

Hi! 10x for the answer, far east!
I know that Tu 2000 and Tu 3000 are used in 45-70. But it is not possible to find in my country the right powders. So, I have to look for other brands and types.

Hi there!

I tried to load:

405 gr lead RNHB hard bullet (1:1 Linotype and 4% antimony+lead)
Lube - 1:1:1 bees wax, cow fat and paraffin plus a drop of Vaseline
51 gr Vec Tu 5000
CCI Large rifle primer

The result was very good - the bullet passed trough 65 cm pine tree and was discontinued in another one 14 meters far in 15 cm deep! The bullet was just a little bit smoothed out. The recoil was similar to recoil of LeveRevolution ammo of Hornady. Unfortunately I didn't have Chronograph to measure the velocity...
