I was just given a what looks to be new Winchester model 94 classic 3030 with the octagon barrel. I'm not sure what the value is, what is the best way to tell?

I think it's a few years old, but I'm unsure how to tell the date.

Call Winchester with the serial number, they can tell you when it was made .

Or, there are web pages with manufacture dates that relate to serial numbers, just Google.

If it's a rifle that is still in production then it's going to be worth less than the cost of a new one, if it's out of production then it could roll over into a collectable but without more info or a condition rating or serial number it's hard to gauge its worth

If it's just a few years old take a look at the going price for a model 94 30-30 and go from there. It doesnt sound like anything special.

Best I can tell with the 3 beginning the serial number it was built somewhere around 66-67.

Okay, that's better than what I was thinking was "a few years old" . A good place to get some ideas are Gunbroker auctions. Look at current auctions and what similar firearms have sold for.
