The Unlimited Range Shooters Association (URSA) will have shoots in NorCal (Clear Lake area) on June 19 and in SoCal (Barstow area) on June 26.

We start shooting at 2000 yards and those that shoot well enough then shoot at min 2500 yards. All locally-legal firearms (rifles and rifle/pistols) are welcome. There are NO fees, we shoot on public land. 4WD or AWD with decent ground clearance recommended for SoCal as the sand can get very deep.

The NorCal contact is Lynn ([email protected]), our Regional Director (RD) for CA/NV. Detailed info for NorCal is usually posted on CalGuns (Long Distance Shooting - Calguns.net).

Initial info re SoCal is what you are about to read PLUS those that sign up will get shoot-specific info a few days before the actual shoot date, tentatively 6/22. My contact is

If you are not familiar with URSA, please see out website, www.unlimitedrange.org

SoCal:

We will have targets set up at 2080 and, quite possibly, 2640 (approximate). Shooting at 2640 is NOT guaranteed – that's determined by how well shooters do at 2080.

May was excellent weather but cold during most of the shoot. I expected June will be even better. Too early for wind forecasts. We'll see.

As you may know, we have, at least temporarily, gone to 4th Sunday for Q2 (April. May, and June) to give the folks that have schedule conflict on 3rd Sundays a chance to shoot. If that turns out not to be enough incentive, we'll be back to 3rd Sunday come Q3.

NOTE: Here is the official drill for SoCal shoots (as posted on the Schedule page):

"* Please note that SoCal shoots go forward based on shooters notifying the contact that they are committing to come and shoot. If you fail to notify the contact by 6 PM on the Wednesday prior to the shoot, you will not be counted when considering whether there are enough shooters to go forward with the event. Thus an event may be canceled for lack of your notification. Please do take the time to notify the contact of your intent to shoot. Thanks."

Just so there is no confusion, anyone considering just posting on CalGuns, or another forum, that you are coming, that will not cut it. I need your confirmation by e-mail so I can send you the detailed shoot info. If I don't get the e-mail confirmation, you will not be on the detailed info e-mail distribution. Thanks for your cooperation.
