What cases are you all transporting your XP100's in? I figure that I need a 22" x 10" footprint to safely fit it with front site or scope overhang. I found a inexpensive Midway brand bag that goes 22x10 internally but it doesn't look like it has much padding. I figure if I ever have to fly with it, I'll use one of my short shotgun hard cases that take a broken down over-under.

You might look at ace case. Look at the TC encore case.

…..or one of the AR cases on their website etc Look around
Thanks for the reference. Those cases look pretty nice and are not too expensive. Bonus, I went to college just down the road from them 40 years ago. We still go through there regularly and I'll see if I can pickup and save a little on shipping.

You might also take a look at the Savior soft cases and the Eylar hard cases. I use both of these and they work out really well.

I can easily put two rear grip handguns in the Savior case. There is a padded divider between the handgun storage area. The Savior case has outside pockets for storage. With 2 SP's in the bag, it is quite heavy, but still manageable. Besides the regular grab handles, it also comes with a shoulder strap.

The Eylar is a very durable hard case. The Eylar case is really good when traveling by air or bouncing around in the bed of your truck along with other gear. Depending on the size of the SP, you may be able to get 2 in the case. The Eylar has a side carrying handle as well as a handle on the end of the case. With 2 wheels on the end of the case, it makes for easy move thru airports, parking lots, etc..

Hey, I got a hard sided Plano case and bought the Magpul Daka foam kit for the exact size. Works pretty great.

I have Boyt and Plano hard cases that are used for my XP-100's.

The Boyt cases, and perhaps the Plano too, are takedown shotgun cases that work quite well for XP-100's.

I was not familiar w/ either of those brands. I'll keep my eye on them.

The only time I flew w/ a handguns was many years ago and the company that made my metal case has gone out of business. If flying nowdays, I'd look at the Eyler referenced above or Pelican. As far as a soft case, I've used the Midway store brand case and been satisfied. On the other hand, I found myself wanting an easier way to transport multiple guns at once when I go on a prairie dog hunt. I went an unconventional route, but it's working out good. For two years I've been using the Magellan 92 L Waterproof Gear Box (from Academy Sports) to transport 3 or 4 XP sized handguns (w/ attached suppressor) in one container. When deer season rolls around, I replace the pd guns w/ deer hunting guns. It is waterproof unless it falls onto it's back and is subjected to torrential rains. Don't ask me how know. I bought 1" thick foam from Amazon and cut it in to 4 strips that fit inside the gear case. I put one later at the bottom and one layer between each gun. It's wheeled and rolls pretty well. It's kinda heavy w/ multiple guns in it, but so far I've been able to get it up into the cargo box. I use an old fabric belt on each end to make it easier to handle.

For the last 40+ years I've used a take down heavy duty aluminum shotgun case. It holds 2 XPs & a revolver which is what I take on about all hunts in US & Africa. It's survived lots of "banging around". Never had any damage to my handguns. The company was in Spokane,WA. I don't think it's there anymore.
My case has a heavy duty cloth, zippered cover. I put 2 large Xs on both sides with 12" pieces of yellow & red duct tape. Not pretty, but definitely deters theft.

Second one has more room to spare but first one will be lighter, and is just barely the 22" you said you require. I've never been disappointed by a pelican case, owned probably a dozen of them. Pricey, for sure, but great cases.

I've ran 16"x11' version of these for several years with a 15" scoped Encore, just enough room for a 3" sandbag, 10rds, bipod and earplugs.

Thanks for all the feedback! I ended up going with the 24" Savior case. Fits my immediate need and budget sufficiently and seems to be well made and thought out. I'll have my eye on the holiday sales for a rigid case as well.
