Toxic Broadheads

Anyone tried the new toxic broadheads yet ?

Nope cool looking but not sure if they will work any better than muzzy or similar heads.

No and I would not. You're never going to sharpen that thing. What is the point, supposedly open a better blood trail? What if you hit the shoulder blade? You'll never drive that thing through.

I'll stick with Thunderheads, they've been killing them dead for me for 24 years and counting.

I started using them this year. They fly right with my field points. I liked the concept of them. Penetrated my target really we'll. I just posted a thread on lack of penetration in the bowhunting section. These are the heads I was using. Not sure if it was just a one off kinda deal. It probably wouldn't happen again that same way. I read a ton of reviews and just like everything there was good and bad.

I seen these for the first time and a friend is going to use them this year with his crossbow. As I read the reviews I got a mixed reviews about them and I don't think I will switch as my Grimm Reapers work very well for me as they have killed 10 deer with them in the last 4 years. So I gotta say pretty cool looking but gonna stick with what works, Grimm Reapers never left me down and the furtherest they ran was 40 yards , most just took a few steps and fell over after being hit .

I was able to watch a video at the local sporting goods store where they showed a guy shooting several different broadheads at milk/water jugs filled with colored water. They look good on the marketing video. But i don't shoot at plastic deer, last time i checked they had fur, hide, bone and muscle to punch though.

I also had a good friend do a test with a piece of corrugated cardboard, he pushed the regular cut on contact BH's right through with little effort. He then tried the Toxic, and had a heck of a time pushing it through. This leads me to believe that they'll have a lack of penetration, besides plastic water jugs of course.

I'll stick with my cut on contact.

My friend that was using the toxics, missed 2 deer with those broadheads so he thought it was best to switch to something else because he couldn't get them to shoot after missing those deer. He never shot them at a target prior to hunting, always shot the field point at targets. So these might not fly well with some crossbows.

Good to know. Have him take a look at hell razors. They shot fantasies out of my crossbow even dull they did a number on a nice buck last year.

IMO toxic and similar broad heads fill in a specialised roll in small game hunting and should not be used on big game. Btw they are impossible to sharpen.

Had bad luck with them couldn't get them to shoot worth a ..... It .......guy at bows shop ole lady sat on one for a 30 min ride never got a scrach ... I have 3 if any one wants them let me know 10 bucks I'll ship all 3 only shot one for pracktice

There is no way I'm going to trade in my 4 blade slick tricks for shooting circles in critters. I had complete pass through on both Elk and Deer this last year with the Tricks and it left big holes in the animals with 40 to 50 yard recoveries. I shoot them out to 70 yards and they are identical to my field points in flight.

My cousin tried these a couple years ago. He shot a doe with them and she didn't run very far. It left a circular hole through both sides. He stopped using them because they can't be sharpened and there's no replacement blades for them. Now he is sticking to QAD Exodus heads.

i have looked at them , talked to people who have tried them i will stick to the rage hypodermic big holes lots of blood easy tracking, and they fly identical to my field points.
