Stock alterations

I've got an iota Krux that I like for the most part, but the fore end is too blocky. I have no clue how these stocks are made and what gives them their structural integrity. Is it possible to reshape the fore end then refinish it?

You can make it bigger with Bondo but if you cut into the shell you will lose its integrity.

I know guys that cut into them and glue wood into them to help hold them together. Forend is a tough one. I wouldn't do it.
