Want to sell my McGowen .300 Win Mag barrel. Small shank Savage, SS, 1-10" twist, 24"long, Savage Magnum contour, recessed crown, matte finish.
8 months old, never hunted, round count 40-50. Diameter at muzzle .695". A couple small shiny spots on the matte finish, otherwise looks like new. Just in time for hunting season.
$230 shipped

Re: FS- Mcgowen SS .300 Win mag Barrel Sm Shank Savage

How did it shoot ? How was it broke in ? Thanks !

With limited development, it shot 180gr Sciroccos and 200gr Accubonds under MOA at 100 yds.
As far as break in, I subscribe in part to the Gale McMillan theory.
How to Break-in a Barrel
I did clean it before shooting, and after 5 rounds of load work up. Then I just shot it till just before removing it from my action a few days ago. It took about 10 patches of Bore Tech Eliminator to get to white with no blue color. About the same as my Benchmark and Rock Creek barrels.
