Loading 45 Long Colt .All loading books list what gun their loads are or not to be fired from.I shoot a S&W25-5. It can take some fairly stiff loads.But today I loaded some 300 gr Sierra JSP with a load they listed for Ruger or Contender only. 9.4grs of Unique behind Sierra 300gr. That load produced the best accuracy I've ever had. Load felt light compared to loads I've shot before. They're listed max load for a Ruger is 10.4grs. I've shot 23grs of H110 behind 270gr cast and those loads kicked HARD.But gun handled them very well. They list 19.6 grs of H110 as lightest powder charge in Ruger shooting 300 gr bullet.Do I have rocks in my head for want ting to shoot those loads out of my Smith?
