I have a matte black 9 twist 223 barrel from a model 12. It checked out closer to an 8.5 twist, it will shoot 75gr ELDMS, after 200ish rounds, I rechambered it in 223AI with .065" freebore, hasn't been fired since.

I also have a 9 twist 22-250 large shank takeoff, from a Savage 12 lrpv, it measures out at around an 8 twist, as it would stack 80gr Amaxs in a ragged hole with Reloder 26. It's been turned down to a small shank and rechambered in 22 Creedmoor, never fired after that, this is a stainless bull.

Both barrels are 26"
115$ each shipped.

More details about the 223, please. What contour? How'd it shoot the 75s, and do you know what speed you were getting with them? And I haven't done my research, but with that free bore, what bullets would be best?

It's a Savage varmint contour. It shot 70grn vlds and 75gr ELDMS into un half moa. The 70s were typically in the .2s with H4895 at 3190. The new freebore is perfect for 73 or 75gr ELDMS, 77gr TMKs, 75grn Swift SCII, plus the typical 69 and 77 grn SMKs, and 75grn Hornady bthp. It's almost the same freebore as a Wylde chamber. I see no reason why you couldn't approach 3300 fps with 75s over PP2000MR, CFE223, or Leverevolution, as the Ackley adds about 150fps.
