savage bolt head swap

I know you can go mag to .308 face, but can you go 308 to mag? Have a extra modle 12 308, thinking of making into a wsm

You can swap out for a mag bolt head but Savage uses CRF for short mags and I think you may need a center feed mag configuration for that . I have an older long action I was going to use for a 7 WSM but its a stagger feed and I don't thing I can use a controlled round feed with that. I could be wrong though I would like to know for sure as well.

You can get a magnum push feed bolt head that will work. I think they machine down one from a long action. Call Kevin at stockade and he will hook you up. But if you have a long action then all you need is the magnum bolt head. I have one on my PTA and I got it from stockade.

Also, Pacific Tool and Gauge has Mag. push-feed heads. I would call and make sure it is in stock though, don't bother getting on a waiting list for it.
