Savage 99 question

A few years ago, I finally got around to buying a rifle I had wanted for decades...a Savage 99 in 250-3000. It's a beautiful rifle and it shoots great! But...every single time I'm loading rounds into it, the sharp edges of the receiver are literally shaving skin off my knuckles. To the point that I don't enjoy shooting it and have considered selling it just because of that issue.

Does anyone else have this problem or am I just a big, dumb gorilla? lol

If you have seen or experienced this, what did you do about it? If it were a newer gun, I would simply round off the sharp edge with a Dremel, but I won't be doing that to this cool old classic.

I wouldn't use a dremel, but a piece of 400 wet or dry and a few drops of oil will take the edge off without being noticeable.

Nothing that would help. Latex would be the only thing thin enough and they would tear too easy. The action opening isn't huge with a scope mounted and I have fairly big hands. I may try @Bobby Bailey 's idea to see if I can just make it less sharp without obviously marking it up. If not, I'll probably end up selling it to someone who won't complain about loading it. lol
