Round dot vs grid target

Anyone find it easier to shoot groups at a 1" dot then your typical grid/cross hair style targets? I don't know if it's the "aim small" or my eyes constantly getting drawn to the grid and trying to line up the cross hairs in the scope, but I definitely find it easier shooting dots. Way less eye fatigue. Does this make sense?

I use 100lb card stock with 1.25" florescent orange dots for most of my work at 400yds. Larger dots work well with low power scopes. Any target with black areas just makes life difficult IMO.

For me, I like to match up dot for dot reticle and grid or box corner for regular crosshairs.

I do see better groups using the 1" orange dots on white butcher paper.
