Chicory has many health benefits and was typically introduced in coffee by the French. If you like the taste, it does have some anti-inflammatory properties and is a source of fiber. Interesting root!
Guess i should have said "Acadian " not cajun, sorryCajuns inhabit SW LA. Cafe du Monde is coffee of the world, more of a New Orleans French Creole thing.
My Father in Law used to send me chicory when I lived in Alaska to add to my coffee. I developed a real taste for it. After he passed away, I lost me source for it. Now I do have a can of Cafe Du Monde in the coffee cabinet. Mainly for afternoon coffee.Chicory has many health benefits and was typically introduced in coffee by the French. I usually only add ice to Irish whiskey.I prefer mixing Irish whiskey in mine!!!
Yep. That's what I had always heard and read in some history books of the CW. Speaking of tea, when I was young, my parents and grandparents still made sassafras tea like they did during the earlier 1900's and into the Depression and WW II.Guess i should have said "Acadian " not cajun, sorry
Yes, coffee was predominantly a frech import but Chicory in coffee in America wasn't a thing until the Civil War when the port of new orleans was cut off from trade by union naval forces--- then Americans started mixing stuff with their coffee to make it last longer, like beets, acorns, and chicory root--- chicory in America has always been to save money or make supplies last longer. Heck, we used to be predominantly tea drinkers until the "Boston tea party" and taxes
Yeah I like mine strong, hot and black. Coffee that is, not necessarily women.I like mine strong, so I am not sure what that says............
