I flipped this chuck 4-5 ft in the air. Which I have done more than once. But, I have never walked up on just a fur with legs attached. (almost like I had a rockchuck "rug" made) I am by no means here getting a "sick" loud chuckle out of this, but come one, in a way this is special.

338 yard shot
243 Win
95 gr Berger Hunting VLD

It is interesting when shots do that to animals.

While backpacking 20 years ago, my dad decided to try and shoot a grouse in the head at about 20 yards with a 30-06. Right when he shot, it flew, and then blew into super tiny pieces. We found the head intact, one foot and the rest little pieces of flesh and feathers.

At 20 yards the bullet could have missed. The muzzle blast would have been enough to disintegrate a grouse....:D

You are very right! A few years prior he was stalking up on a group of bucks and a grouse flew from under his feet into a bush next to him. It spooked the deer and they ran off. He got ****ed and shot at the grouse in the bush next to him and it came rolling out of the bush dead right to his feet. He picked it up and put it in his jacket. About an hour later, the grouse came out of it's stupor and was just fine. He had just knocked it out with the muzzle blast. He brought it home for a pet for us three kids. A month or so later and we took it back to the woods and let it go.

YD, that is spectacular! You pretty well emptied him. Bob Beck from Extreme Outer Limits TV filmed some RC's and sagerats. While the RC's were far enough that they didn't get your results, the 87 grain Berger VLD's he was shooting absolutely amazed me on SR's. I have to admit, it did make me chuckle. (I might have even LOL'd a few times.) I was surprised at the acrobatics as the 35 grain Bergers from my .204's really don't fragment spectacularly on 'rats. Bob's preparing himself for the e-mails even before the show airs. :D

Better watch out posting things like this. Some may think it is unethical and contact Boone and Crockett requesting a formal protest against over kill.:D

Awesome:D
105 gr. vld hunting bullets out of my fast twist .243 wssm do the same thing to rock chucks out to 400-425 yards .
Definitely one of my favorite ways to spend a daygun)

Nice shooting,

-Mike

You got that right. Usually how I spend my birthday each year.

My father-in-law used the following:

Savage model 10
223
80gr A-max (loaded as single shot)

WOW! Lets say its the best results I have seen yet.
High flying chucks...
