Like you, I would rather call them in, but I've found snaring to be very effective over the years. The snare "hunts" 24 hours a day, and unlike me, it never gets tired, cold or in need of a nap.

Amen, and oftentimes you can snare in suburban areas where you can't shoot, I prefer Thompson 1XX snares, load them well bottom loop 12 inches off the ground, and 12 inches in diameter rust them slightly and oil well with mineral oil, if they're loaded properly as soon as they're touched they fire. and in heavy deer country deer stops are a must have. THX

100% in agreement, load them well and use the proper distance from ground, and diameter loop and you're usually good, all things you know. I've seen smart coyotes when they feel the squeeze stop fighting and lay down.

In my area for awhile there were several people using small cable and micro locks . I caught several with snares cut into them where they had twisted and chewed through the cable . It like any other aspect of coyote hunting is an art and hopefully we learn from the mistakes we have made and don't repeat them . And yes I too have had some that were broke to lead or halter broken and just laid down till you got back to them .
