Shooters,
Nightforce ELR Steel Challenge will not be a points match this year. The date will be June 14-16, 2019. With much thought, and some tough decisions, we are going to try to capture different segments of the market and really pursue the roots, traditions, future and potential of long range shooting and hunting; as well as bring some of the dedicated ELR competitors and guns into a field style match.

June 14th will be an ELR-Central world record challenge, along with sight-in and data confirmation. With some prior coordination through Tad Anderson, you will have the opportunity to hunt prairie dogs on the other 500,000 acres of the Ranch, that isn't being used for the competition.

The match format as it has existed does not really fit in with the traditional style PRS or NRL or ELR type format. We have also slid the match date backone week in order to de-conflict with Cole Quarnberg's Dog Valley National Rifle League match. The biggest change to the format is there will no longer be a caliber or speed restriction, minus the really big stuff like 50s. We will have an Open class and a Hunter class. NO 50 BMGs (the steel just can't take it), but anything else is good to go.

The only restrictions will be weight based in the Hunter class, in keeping with Idaho modern rifle rule, with one exception you will be able to have electronics attached to your rifle. Everything attached to the rifle when shooting is part of the rifle, and 16 pounds is the max weight, which include bags velcro'ed to the rifle, data cards, everything, minus ammo. Anything heavier than 16lbs will be in Open class.

Scoring will be different as well. We are going to a 2-1 scoring system with 80ish planned engagements. The competitor will get 2 chances at each target. Once the target is hit, the target is considered neutralized, and the competitor will move on to the next target. First round impacts will be worth 2 points, and second round impacts will be worth 1 point.
Targets will remain very similar with an average shot distance of 1100 yards though out the match, and targets will range from 600 out to 2100 yards.

* We are going to go all out on the prize table and a % based cash payout to the top shooters.
* The Q Creek Ranch is very remote. Lunches and water will be provided.
* Lodging on sight is available, with good beds and world class food. Coordination through Tad Anderson.
* Registration will open in early February.
If you are interested in sponsoring the match send me and IM. There will be more to follow, as we continue to develop and shape what will be an exciting new format, and any feedback is more than welcome, just hit me up on IM.
