New shooter

Hello, my name is Wayne. New to shooting long range. 100yrd is about my longest shot. Building a rem 700 16.5 308 for mid to simi long range. I know it's not optimal but I wanted to build something i could deer hunt with and push out at prob 500 yards max. Longest local range is 300 yards I believe.

My build:
Rem 700 308 16.5
B&C Light Tactical stock ( May bed later)
Weaver 20moa base
Warne maxim low rings
Vortex viper pst ffp 6-24x mrad
Surefire 762 break

Ammo I'm want to use is Hornady Amax 168gr Match.

Total barrel with break will be about 19.25 in.

Any input is welcome.
