Hi everyone just joined i am from europe, do abit of hunting out my way. Just ordered a new remington 700 in 243. will be looking a bit of help with mounts and advice on scopes later on which would bee a great help as i know reading the posts you guys know your stuff. I have been hunting the last 15 years on small vermin, but have started to move into bigger game now. Hope to get some sound advice from you guys thanks.

Yeah cheers no prob, in next few weeks will be getting a scope so will need all the advice I can get.

Just a little "heads up" about your scope.
When you decide to mount it, I'd recommend a single piece "picatinny" style rail and that you take the time to bed the mount.

Making that your first step will prevent a lot of potential mounting problems.
Cheers ............

Thanks a lot for that I will take that on board, I have put a few posts out about optics and getting good help. Its on long range shooting and also the optics post. If you ever get time you could read it and if you have any advice for me it would be great. It is a rem700 .243 so I hope over time to get a good stock also, which I think would also be a good idea to bed.
It will be used for small deer mostly and I want to see if I can hit steel at 1000yards on say a 10in x10 target. I know it depends whos behind the scope but I hope to try just to learn how to hit targets at that range. My limit for hunting I would say will never go past 400 unless I take a lot of practise. Also if you have any other ideas for scopes would help many thanks.

Cheers man do you have the 700 model? I have bought the Vermint.I am going to change the stock on it any recom?
