Mauser 98 help.....

Thanks for the reply... Don't have the rifle yet and have been wondering..... Was hoping it was a fast enough twist for some long range work.....

A too-high rate of twist can cause problems with light-weight bullet use in the 243 Winchester. The excessive twist can cause accelerated barrel wear, and in high velocity bullets an excessive twist can cause bullets to literally tear themselves apart under the centrifugal force before reaching their target down-range

The word custom ,means someone order the twist rate . It may mean that is not the factory rated twist. Check where you bought it ,if they have any inform.
Well no **** Maynard. This may come as a surprise to you but manufacturers tend to keep records on the customs they build.

If it came from the FN Mauser Custom Shop, they'll have the records, if it was built on one of their actions by a custom gun builder the builder should have records of the build.

Either then should be able to tell him what the twist rate is.

Failing that it isn't hard to determine it yourself with a cleaning rod.

Yep. Will do when it arrives..... Just thought someone was maybe familiar with this unit so I could get some bullets on the way.... Thanks guys....
