Let see the 2023 spring bear success

After a long cold spell this spring it finally warmed up enough to get the bears moving on the hills. This was an after work spot and stalk hunt on a coastal mountain, took about an hour to get in position at about 1400 feet of elevation from the sea level spotting position. Shot was about 160m with a 30-06 using 160g Hammers and was a quartering away double lung with full penetration that left nothing but soup in the chest cavity. He ran about 20 yards downhill before rolling into the brush you see here. Didn't get him packed out til about 1 am so I'm dog tired this morning but worth it overall.

Couple more pics…planning to do a full rug.
Shot with my 6.5 max, 156 Berger, 288 yards. One and done. Hit the dirt like a wet towel. Wildlife biologists said decent amount of tooth wear. Guessed 5-6+ years old
