I used a friends 1600B today and really liked it. He's had it 2 years now which got me thinking. How often does Leica update these? A call to Leica resulted in "We don't talk about products not released yet" which I can understand. I just don't want to get one then it be obsolete 6 months later. Any thoughts?

For me it would never be obsolete.

It does all that I want or need out to 1 mile for fun shooting and have never missed a shot opportunity on game due to inability to range.

I have the even older model but all I desire from it are range and shot angle.

I'd not wait.

Get it. I've got a 1600 and it's a solid little unit. As others have said they are worth it. For the money I'm not sure there is a better LRF out there.

Are you willing to wait until next April? This is only a thought, I know nothing. Observation, most companies don't release anything new until SHOT show, which is Jan. Then it gets released and no one can get their hands on them for a few months. The 1600 will never be "obsolete" because it does what LR hunters need at a very reasonable price.

Thanks for all the input guys! The consensus is to buy now so that's what I will do.
