l hunt wild boar in moonlight. just found out that people are useing spotlights with green or red glass to hunt hogs and foxes. can someone explane this for me pls ? dont the animals see the green or red lights ? as l have seen spotlights called kill light on cabelas. if this is true it will really make a huge difarance in the amount of wildboar, foxes and rabirs and hair l shoot.

and info would be great. thanks.

poasted this on hog hunting forum but its a bit quiet down there :)

Red would be best for coyotes, fox n coons dunno about bobcats never saw one at night. Pigs can't see green so that would be a better light. I have a spot light with a pink filter lens that works well but it's for a team effort. The newer flash light types with the weaver rings are lone hunter friendly. If you go green get the higher nanometer 530 532 vs the 520 and the same for the red get the higher nanometer wavelength. The green is actually best for nightvision as it is closer to bright daylight's 555nm. Even if the wave length is out of the animals spectrum it is still light and rapid movement even in the right color will cause reactions usually not good ones either. Also now that I have alittle more experience and knowledge I would look at something with a hi/low option. On snow you don't need much unless looking into thick cover over a field/lake edge situation. Overcast nights on dirt or weather high is needed in a must type situation like protecting my mom's sheep, calves, or chickens. The reason I was given the designator to begin with
