I have a heavy barrel Howa 1500 in 223.I can`t get enough length to use 75 grain Hornadt A Max`s .I know I will only be able to shoot them single shot, but need to know how to lengthen the bolt throw.Any help would be appreciated,Huntz

I cannot be of help re bolt stop, but I had a similar situation when I had a Wby Vanguard rechambered from 7RM to 7STW. Ended up having my smith mill some material from the stock and install a longer mag box.

Not having one in front of me I maybe wrong on some of this, but the same action is used regardless if it's a 223 or say 243 or 308, the action is the same but the magazine box is different the 223 has a spacer you may be able to remove, you will then need to modify the bolt stop or replace it, again I'm not sure but I'm thinking you should be able replace the 223 bolt stop with one for the 243 or 308, probably even one from a long action 270 3006 7mag etc, again pretty sure they are all the same, years ago I built a 416 Remington on a how's that had been a 338, I need a longer mag box and a modified bolt stop, the weatherby vanguard was offered in 300 weatherby I was able to get my hands on both a mag box and bolt stop for the longer 300 cartridge which worked fine for the 416, Ebay currently has a number bolt stops listed

I took the bolt stop off and ground off 5MM.Works perfect now.Now I need to find the spring and follower for the short action. You are right there is just a stamped spacer that come right out to make it a FL short action. Thanks,Huntz
