Just picked up a hornady micrometer any no if you can lock it off and what do the increments relate 2

I have 3 or 4 of them, they do not include a lock mechanism of any kind and that is a bother because they move freely. Once I find my setting I use a piece of masking tape to ensure it doesn't move. I don't know what the increments relate to but I don't use them. I make dummy rounds for each bullet I use and set the seating depth to the master as defined by the dummy.

The increcments on any "micrometer" seating head is only relative to another length. It has NO application to anything else, nor does it need to be.

I use mine in conjunction with the LNL bullet comparator and they seem to relate pretty close to .001". Not exact but pretty close.
