I've developed a new feeder light that mounts on your feeder and shines 'down'. It brightens very slowly when triggered by motion. It's also very easy to relocate using the mounting kit. The idea of a light brightening slowly is not new -- I'm surprised no one has incorporated it before-- good for you.

I have a friend that went on an African safari leopard hunt probably 20 years ago--- they used bait and a battery operated light mounted on a pole above it with a wire run rheostat -- when they heard crunching at the bait site they would slowly turn up the rheostat controlled light to see what was eating the bait--- he has a beautiful leopard in his trophy room from that hunt.
