Ok...so I lied.

Freshly retired from the gov't, I started working for an outfitter in central TX. I spent a few months at the ranch guiding turkey and exotics.

Not growing up around hogs, I went out and sat at a feeder that we'd seen some on cam at. First hog down and hooked. The Outfitter kept making fun of me...as it became an obsession. I'd go out to one of a handful of ranches almost every night to kill hogs. Maybe it's because it's new to me...but I'm hooked. Back in VA for a few weeks and I already miss going out. Most were evening hunts and a few using thermal.

I used both my 7mm Backcountry running 195gr Bergers and my 300BO using both 110gr TAC-TX and V-Max. I ran a NF NX8 on the bolt gun and both a Steiner 1-4 and AGM Rattler V2 on the gas gun. Bodycount is right under 40, with a few smaller ones having been brought back to have our chef throw them on a smoker......fabulous. Fun fact...I killed both the boar and the Tom in the last pic later that day. Just thought I'd share,

Hogs are fun to hunt, I have been doing it for the last 12 years and never get tired of it. Since i hunt state land, I am nowhere close to your count of dead. I usually only get a couple shots a year so 2 is the most I have killed in a hunt.

I am down to one feeder. Just too many people around me now for lots of pig. Rarely does a lone boar get greedy and show up at my feed early. I like shooting them with bigger bores! Getting older my body does not accept the recoil like it once did, down to a 375 and 416 Ruger! Still fun!

Test bullets, while doing the good wildlife a favor. Can't lose.
Exactly, I love that part of it. I do not like the meat so I always give that away. I shot one with a 375 H&H I loaded with a Barnes hollow point. I was pretty disappointed since it went right through the small hog and did not seem to expand. It dropped her in her tracks but I wanted to see a large wound channel. Never got to shoot another one with that rifle.
