I had a similar experience with a very well known manufacturer a few years ago. One .284 bullet in a box of .277. I was all wound up, figured they might need to issue a recall on that lot etc etc.
I called them and kindly pointed out their error. I was not looking for a reward as much as helping with my perceived safety issue. The lady on the phone was totally un-impressed. "Yeah, happens sometimes when a bullet gets stuck in the system and pops loose later" and "We will send you 5 bullets for your trouble"
Yes, 5. Of a different lot of course. Worthless to me. I had them sent and threw the original package in a drawer. Figured if some poor sapp made headlines and sued the manufacturer, his lawyer would really like me to take the stand.
Never happend. Moreoever, in hindsight, I think the manufacturer would win the law suit. You really should notice a larger bullet. Which the OP and I both did, it appears.

Never count. Just weight the lot and divide by the grains! Sometime I have to use the wife's kitchen scale, which luckily was purchased by me as a present to her:), and thus is nice and accurate in grams. Convert to grains and divide!

Cavity back bullets sent me a box of 50 full of 243 bullets in a .264 box. Then they wanted me to pay to ship them back before they would send me another box of .264 bullets that I ordered.
That right there would get me a bit perturbed. That kind of stuff could almost get me to be a bit belligerent and that takes some doing, let me tell you. I am easily one of the most tolerant people when it comes to screwups and even bonehead mistakes. It happens. Let's just get it resolved..no biggie. I do not expect to be compensated (but it would be good CS to do so even if only in a token way). But to demand I must pay out of pocket to fix their screwup before they will correct it!?! OH....HELL NO!!
I might have suggested to them CPSC might be interested in a product safety recall. Complete
on their part.Cavity Back should know we talk and stuff like this gets around.

Sounds like a lawsuit depending on the person that ran into that issue. Luckily it was large enough to be obvious.
