You'll get some good advice here but I suggest try this question on accurateshooter.com. What type of competition do you want to get in to? Palma, f-class, bench, 3 gun? Need to narrow it down for us.

Currently ill just be doing bench or just lond distance rifle. Down the line 3-gun.

Then any of the Mod12 Savage target rifles will fit the bill. I am a Savage fan, but I would suggest others if other companies offered something similar. Savage is the only company that I know of, that their competition team uses and wins with factory rifles. The target rifle you get, is the same thing they use to compete. They have made a quite a name for themselves in the shooting community. Check'em out.
