I have this 6.5x284 in a Savage LA action, PTG bolt face, 26" (that what was on sale a couple years ago from OpticsPlanet) Proof CF prefit barrel.
Its currently in an XLR Evolution chassis, and I have kind of fallen out of love with the whole chassis thing. Just has not felt right for me. The gun is a tack driver -- pretty much all loads under MOA. I think the guy behind the trigger cannot hold well enough to really find out -- and it won't fit in my sled correctly.
Anyhow, would like to try a Stocky's carbon Fiber in either the VG2
Or the Hunter
The VG2 has a more vertical grip and weighs about 8 oz more that the Hunter. The Hunter is a real lightweight stock at 20-22 oz. I have mostly conventional tastes, but suspect that the VG2 offers the shooter slghtly better hold and ergonomics which *might* result in a bit better accuracy.
CF stocks for Savages are not easy to find. The Stocky's price of $548.88 is not cheap, but CF doesn't come cheap.
Anyhow, someone care to give their thoughts on which stock I should go with? (not taking offers for the XLR just yet BTW)
Thanks in advance.
