Anyway, I hunt in California and Colorado every year.

I live on the Eastern slope of the Sierra and shoot several days a week, 5 minutes from the house.

Most of my "long range" hunting is restricted to coyotes with the .243 or the .220 Swift, but I push the envelope with both.

I live on the southern edge of the G3 deer zone.

I am old school. I have a 1914 Eddystone 30-06, that is my basic big game shooter. I feed it Hornady Light Magnum ammo and I love how well it performs, out to 500 yards. I have been shooting it for over 45 years......I pretty much know what it will or won't do.

I have a custom 338 on a Remington action with a Leupold scope and matched reticles.....I have never hunted with it, but it has SERIOUS long range capability. I don't like very much about it, other than it will shoot real far.

I also have a lot of varmint rifles that I generally shoot much more often than the actual "big game" rifles.

I do not reload any longer, since I don't think I can compete with Hornady, since my rifles mostly all just need to shoot "minute of coyote".
