FNG to the forum. Whitetail hunter and Highpower enthusiast here. I love hunting and shooting, blues, cigars, cars, old guitars and amps, and working on my own stuff. I am an Electrical Engineer by day and blues guitarist by night. I shoot service rifle across-the-course (AR15), currently using Broughton, Pac-Nor, and Bartlein barrels, Geissle triggers, White Oak Precision sights. I have my barrels turned by Frank White at Compass Lake Engineering. I prefer Win M70 bolt actions for hunting. For LR comp I am shooting a Tubb T2000 in .243 cal.

Longest shot on a deer was maybe 250 yards. My lease is very thick, most shots are bow range, but I hope to go out west and hunt muleys and elk one day.

See you around...

I live in Cumming, but I used to live in Augusta long ago and still have friends & family there.

That's a little far to just head to the range on a random afternoon, too bad. I'm deployed right now, but should be back in a little while. I go to the range on Ft. Gordon (up to 800 yards), if you're in the area and want to go shooting out here let me know.

I got my first leg points in an EIC match on Ft Gordon Range 4, and have shot several HP and 1000 yard matches there in recent years. Years earlier as a teen (70s), I shot my first whitetail buck on one of the rare hunts permitted inside the SA impact area, down in the woods behind that same range. I was an Army brat and my Dad was an NCO at Gordon, and me and my friends hunted all over Gordon. These days I shoot at River Bend Gun Club, Dawsonville, which is 14 miles from my house, and I can shoot to 600 yards anytime I want.

Best of luck on your deployment.
