Over 200 dead crows littered I-10 near Orange, Texas. State biologists and PETA scientists spent hundreds of hours performing post mortem examinations on the crows. They were concerned about a possible outbreak of avian flu. They were relieved to conclude that all the birds were road kill. 98% had been killed by trucks, and 2% by cars. They brought in a respected ornithological behaviorist to try to determine how such a disparate number was possible. He concluded that when crows feed on carrion on the highway, they always post a lookout. Turns out that the lookout crow could say "cah", but couldn't say "truck".
