Factory 0 MOA Rail Tikka CTR

I have a Leupold VX5 3-15x44 with 75 total MOA adjustment per specs. I am getting a Tikka T3x CTR with the integrated pic rail. I am trying to determine if I need a 20 MOA rail to shoot a 1,000 yards at my range. I shoot a 6.5 Creedmoor and speeds will be 2600-2700 FPS with the 143 ELD-X or 147 ELD-M.

I get similar results in my Hornady 4DOF app. If my 100 yard zero is centered with the 0 MOA rail I should be fine. I am not trying to be cheap but why go through the hassle of removing the factory rail and spending ~$60 on a 20 MOA rail when I can get to a 1000 yards with my set up.

Swapping the rail out on the CTR isn't difficult at all - I'd rather have the extra travel available instead of wishing I did.

Is it installed with just screws with loctite? I've heard it's fastened on the action with epoxy and requires a heat gun or clothing iron.

I had heard the same thing… I used a blow dryer for 5 min. Loosened the screws and the rail popped right off.

Pro tip

Be very careful when using a heat gun to remove factory rail. I was applying heat to top of rail and side and sure enough I scorched part of my factory stock. Thankfully I'm getting a KRG Bravo.
