My oldest son is wanting a high magnification scope for LR shooting on his .223
He's leaning heavily towards the Zeiss Conquest HD5 5-25x50mm scope with the Plex reticle and locking turret.
I'm not familiar with this variable range, as I've only fondled and peek through the 2-10x42 and 3-15x42 versions.
Hows the ER and eye box? Easy to get behind (at all magnification ranges)? For the same price range, is there another scope he should be considering instead (not interested in ballistic, MOAR, mil dot, or christmas tree type reticles)?
He'll be using this specifically to punch paper, steel, etc. out to 800 yards.
