CED Millennium 2 shooting chronograph

I am going to get a CED Millennium 2 shooting chronograph but not sure what space to get for screems a 2ft or 4ft or 6ft or 8ft /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

2 ft has worked for me. I would get the IR system though. With that, it will read everytime in any light condition.
