Berger 205 Elite Hunters

Is anyone loading the 205's in the 300 win mag? If so what powder, velocity, and group size?
Thanks,
Jon
I just picked some up as I was going to try them in a 300 WM as well.

I would love to hear feedback from anybody running these in any twist other than the modern 9's or 10's.

Berger states that these 205s should work in an 11 twist, and I happen to have an old Sako that I love that unfortunately has an 11 twist barrel. I am hoping that these will actually stabilize in that wonderful rifle.

If not, I have multiple other 300s that I would be able to use them in.

Brass is virgin Peterson long 300 win mag, Fed 215 GMM, and H4831 SC. CBTO was 2.875 with a .015" jump
69 gr - 2,822
69.5 - 2,855
70 - 2,871
70.5 - 2,878
71 - 2,919
71.5 - 2,934
72 - 2,960
72.5 - 2,962
73 - 2,981
73.5 - 3,021
74 - 3,051
Obviously use this data at your own risk. Work up in your rifle

Thanks for the info MTBackwoods.i have found a load with h1000 at 0.040 off the lands that is shooting really good at 100 yards, just need to stretch it out and see if it holds together. With a 28" barrel I'm at 3094 fps without any signs of pressure.

I shoot the 208's some in mine and use N565 in that one. Getting 3,080' with a 24" barrel and 0.20 moa out to 650 yards so far. So I bet you can break the 3,100' mark without pressure. JSKMTD is there pretty much. 28" I know but I bet he could push it a little more. The other 2 300's I use the 215's.

If I loaded RL26 like I originally planned, there is no doubt I could break 3,100. But I just want accuracy and a minimum of 2,900 fps. Never hit pressure with my work up but now I need to explore for accuracy. If I can't find a solid load, I'll switch to RL26 and post those results as well

Here is a load I developed for a friend.

Rifle: Bergera Wilderness
.300wm
1:10 twist
24" barrel ?

ADG Brass
205gr Elite Hunter

Chamber Data from Once Fired Brass:
Shoulder Measurement 2.220
Neck width: .341

Brass Data from Never Fired ADG Brass

Bullet ogive length: 2.853
Off Lands: .003
Neck Tension: .333 bushing
72.4gr H4831

I'm not done with this load workup yet, still seeking a good node. Here's what I've got so far:

Sako AV 300 WM
Norma 1x fired, water volume = 93.94 gr
Shoulder bump .002, neck bushing .333
Berger 205gr EH
Fed 215 M

Retumbo work up:
79.5
80.0
80.5 ---> Selected this load for depth testing as impact holes from 80.0, 80.5, and 81.0 were all touching each other
81.0 c
81.5 c
82.0 c ---> Stopped here. Recoil was stout, but no other signs of pressure. There was a noticeable jump in recoil from 81.5 to 82.0

Seating depths off lands: (Starting length limited by magazine length) (6 rounds each depth, 3 shot groups at 100 yds)
.080
.101
.122
.143 ---> Best group at .83" and .97"
.164

I'm going to fish around and see what I can find for a good node at .143, but that might not be until next season.
