Berger 168 VLD

I am considering trying the 168 gr VLD in a 300WSM. Some info I have read states you must load these touching or very close to the lands. If I do this my gun becomes a single shot. Is this accurate info? Can anyone provide tested load data and feed back? I generally use RL15 and RL17 for this caliber.
