Bergara vs premier

Anyone have info regarding the bergara rifles and actions? possibly looking at the wilderness Sierra (fluted #5 barrel) or the premier #4 fluted action/barrel only (used on the canyon series)--i heard hit or miss accuracy issues with them in the past, have they gotten better?

I have not owned any of these, but I think what you will hear folks say is that Bergara, Christensen, and Fierce are hit and miss, while Seekins seems to be a cut above in that class, both in products and customer service.

Every one I've bought has come with rust factory installed in the barrel. I actually bought one just to take home and scope and sure enough, it had rust. Mainly surface but one had damaged rifling. Response from Bergara was "1MOA accuracy guarantee applies".

Great platforms for rebarrels though, the new tubes are working our for me. Better fit and finish than Remington RR actions. I'd put them on par with the Rem 700 Alpha rifles. And honestly they didn't shoot any worse than other factory rifles after I used Flitz in the bores, and I never had outsized expectations because they're still factory guns.

I still buy them, good enough at the price point IMO.

My first Premier had rust and a lot of pits in the barrel. Sent it back to Bergara who tried to tell me they were inclusions. Shot within their accuracy guidelines so they sent it back. Replaced the barrel with a Bartlein.

My second Bergara is their MgLite with a carbon barrel. Didn't shoot well at all. When I scoped it there were Lands all the way thru the Freebore to the neck. Sent it back. Barrel was replaced but it didn't shoot either. Bergara is replacing it again at this time. Going on 4 months now. If they can't get it right soon I'll ask for a full refund.

Hello,

Have a new rifle in 7mm PRC that was not shooting well. When I scoped it I found 2 of the Lands extend all the way to the neck. They appear to be contacting factory bullets when chambered. I'm concerned the rifle may never shoot well and/or can't load bullets close to the "normal" land position.

Has anyone ever seen this? Is it as big of an issue as my mind is making it?

What would cause this? Reamer not aligned with the barrel?

Can it be "fixed" or is a new barrel needed?

Attached are pics of the Freebore at the 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock (where the issue is)

Bergara used to be known for barrels before they started mass producing rifles. I think I'm done with the brand.
