Was the beacon in the bear scat?
He did survive. Lucky for the Personal locater and sending out a distress signal after the attack. Th Link I attached only has a short video and not much detail. The 68 year young man was hiking in the Mountains when attacked.
Never leave home without it.
The hiker was 68, experienced, did not appear to have time to use his bear spray but survived attack and had location beacon. I read it was originally mistaken as an aircraft down before it was realized it was a personal beacon. But heck of an endorsement for having one! They are not dependent on cell towers so independent and bullet proof from most common interferences.
