This is old guy (65.3) drivel so maybe its a good read or not. I resisted the AR revolution for as many years as I resisted Myspace and Facebook. Wife says I'm a dinosaur. Then I got ARfever bad. But never wanting to take the road well travelled I researched for months and decided on a custom built AR in 7.62x39 that I seen on gunbroker for 1/2 what a a CMMG mk4 sells for. That the other thing I'm a bit of a tightwad. Anyway when it came it was in two or three pieces so while I'm filling out the 4473 I look around and the guy has it all together for me. So now I have this great shooting little rifle that I have no idea how to assemble disassemble or clean. I printed off some downloads so Ill probably figure it out one day when it needs cleaned. I put a lil Nikon 2-7x32 dpx scope ( I watched the scope in my local Walmart for 5 yrs before I bought it) on it in some old Weaver see thru rings I had laying around. Accuracy is about two mins of elk. ( the 5.56 is prob better). Heck of it is I bought this AR47/BR15 and also bought 4 bolt action .270s last yr( old stuff), but all I wanna do is feed the AR and shoot it. Dangdest thing I ever seen. The ammo is almost as cheap as .22LR and way more findable. Its funny how the darndest little thing like an AR can get in your blood. Thank you.

yep

I am an old guy too. I too rejected the ar platform for many years. Bought a standard PSA ar15 a couple of years ago and I was like a kid with my first .22 rifle. The guns are just fun. I decided to build me one. I am addicted now. I have 3 and I have 2 more in process. I am going to have to thin some of them out soon.

Lol we have all been there. I was a bolt guy giving my brother **** for his ar. Now I have 8 and just ordered 5 more tonight. Wait till you find all the cool calibers. .458 socom, 300 blk, 6x45. All my favs. I to have yet to have Facebook or any of that. Hell in only 32 and hate that stuff. Maybe I should try it out to cause my go to hunting rifle is a psa 16 inch 300 blk. Made with bleak parts and it shoots .39 inch 5 shot groups 100 yards. ****es me off it out shoots some of my guns that cost 5 times as much

Another old guy here. I've owned AR's over 30 years. They are great guns. I like to plink with my 9mm AR. With a red dot scope it is a blast shooting steel and bottles of water. Just recently purchased an AR upper in 7.62x39 and it shoots great with junk ammo. It doesn't replace the AK but a good substitute. Good shooting!

I'm trying not to think about an AR-10 type in 7.62x51/.308, but its hard. I have a bit of a buy list for next yr and I may bump the AR10 to the top. I like gun tinkering and am gonna retire soon so I have thought of building one. Just don't know

You can find youtube videos on most anything including assembly and dis-assembly of AR-15. I shot the M-14 in the military and when first handed a m-16 I thought it was a phony weapon made for girly men.

I went through the big magnums and F1 600 yard competition. The cost of shooting has gotten out of hand so I started looking at cheap shooting. 223 for about 8 cents per pill is hard to beat for reloading. So for shooting a thousand rounds in a few days of varmint hunting AR 15 is the logical choice.

I kind of went overboard and I built way too many. I have lots of time and money
