Ar10 barrel extension

Ok fellas, school me up please. An ar10 barrel extension is threaded into or onto what set of threads? Give me the dummy version please.

If I buy a barrel or blank, and I have an ar10 barrel extension for a dpms pattern rifle, I can thread them together and poof.. ar10 barrel?

Not just any barrel blank would work , as would probably going to have a turned area for the gas block and port hole along there

Here, again from the errornet.

FYI, for 20 inch 308 and 0.750 gas block I use 2mm reamer. Drill smaller, then ream.

On another point. Some gas blocks the gas hole is 0.275, and some are .300 from the end. And there are in between. Pick your barrel gas port at 0.300 from the shoulder.

While you are set up rotate the barrel 180 out and cut a pad that is directly opposite from gas port. All gas block have artifact hole from drilling gas port. Easy foolproof to align gas ports, use the block artifact hole lined up with your pad. O.125 end mill is fine.
